January 04, 2024 Friends of the Children - Phoenix Celebrates National Mentoring Month with Generous Support from Executive Council Charities January 2, 2024 Phoenix, AZ - As we welcome the new year, Friends of the Children - Phoenix is excited to kick off National Mentoring Month with the support of Executive Council Charities. This holiday season, the organization was grateful to participate in The Gwyn Noble Holiday Shopping Experience where youth and their siblings went on a Target shopping spree with volunteers there to help them shop. In addition, Executive Council Charities has awarded Friends of the Children - Phoenix with a grant to help start the new year off bright. National Mentoring Month is a time to recognize the importance of mentorship and the impact it can have on the lives of young people. Friends of the Children - Phoenix is dedicated to providing long-term, professional mentoring to children facing the most significant challenges in their lives. Through their unique model, each child is paired with a salaried, professional mentor, known as a "Friend," who stays with them from kindergarten through high school graduation. This consistent and caring relationship has proven to have a positive impact on the children's academic, social, and emotional development. Thanks to the generosity of Executive Council Charities, Friends of the Children - Phoenix was able to give their youth and their siblings a memorable holiday experience. The Target shopping spree not only provided the children with much-needed items, but it also gave them a chance to bond with their mentors and the amazing volunteers, and create lasting memories. The grant awarded by Executive Council Charities will also help Friends of the Children - Phoenix continue their mission of providing mentorship to at-risk youth in the community. Friends of the Children - Phoenix is grateful for the support of Executive Council Charities and their commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of children. As National Mentoring Month begins, the organization is excited to continue their work and provide children with the support and guidance they need to succeed.
